river beat magazine is a new community publication in Peterborough/Nogojiwanong about life at the end of the rapids.
issue zero launches online at sunrise (07:45) on the winter solstice (21st of December), 2024.
but we can’t do it without your help.
donations will go towards:
- our wordpress personal plan and custom domain: $50.85 for this year, paid annually and increasing next year;
- our canva pro subscription: $16.99 monthly;
- our sole proprietorship registration: at least $60;
- bank fees: $?;
- the journey of becoming a registered non-profit, which may include application and lawyer fees: $?;
- any fees for hosting our free, online version on Issuu: $?;
- printing costs for physical copies, which will be available for purchase: $?;
- venue costs for our issue zero launch party: $?;
- poster-printing costs for said party: $?;
- a full-time, living-wage for our editor-in-chief, Chanel Bowen at a rate of $21.65 an hour x 6 hours a day x 4 days a week x 4 weeks a month: at least $2078.40.
this list of needs will be updated as more expenses are realized.

all donations made by sunset (16:30) on Friday the 20th will be recognized in issue zero. all these donators will be eligible for an early-access email containing a free, downloadable PDF file of issue zero, sent out on that time and date.
